FIRST TIME VISITORS

The RMBC family is made up of people of all ages and situations. Our goal is to make all feel welcome and provide an atmosphere for everyone to learn and grow.

What can you expect when you visit?

We know that visiting any place for the first time can be intimidating. We’d like to help you feel at ease about what to expect when you visit us at Rolling Meadows Bible Chapel. Here are answers to some of the questions you may have.

What will happen when I walk in the door for the first time?

When you come into the building, you will most likely be greeted by a few different people.  Don’t be intimidated.  We are a small group who love each other like family, and we are genuinely interested in getting to know you.  You will generally get questions about your name and where you come from.  If you want to offer more info, that’s great.  But we won’t pry if it makes you uncomfortable.

How should I dress?

We don’t have an official dress code at RMBC.  You will find that there is a range of dress style, often from casual to the more traditional “Sunday best”.  The main thing is that we want you to feel comfortable and welcome when you visit. You will be welcome to come as you are.

What kind of music should I expect?

Our goal is to have a balanced mix of traditional hymns and newer worship music.  We value the heritage and doctrine of the “older” songs but recognize that there is a wealth of “newer” music as well that helps us in lifting our voices and hearts to God.  We also try to incorporate “kids songs” into the Family Service, but we all really enjoy them – not just the kids!

We use a variety of instruments. You will hear piano with guitars, flutes, a cajon and ukelele and some Sundays it’s just piano. We like variety.

Will I be asked to give money?

The simple answer to this is No.  We will not be asking for an offering during the Family Service. We want you to come and enjoy your time without feeling any kind of pressure to give financially.

What if I don’t feel “good” enough to come to church?

The wonderful thing about Jesus is that He accepts us as we are.  We can never be good enough to measure up to God’s perfect standards on our own. We need Him.  We are all broken by sin but can experience God’s grace and forgiveness by faith in Jesus Christ and His death on the cross as payment for our sins. Please don’t stay away because you don’t feel “good” enough.  None of us are without Jesus Christ.

What is the Lord’s Supper?

Every Sunday we meet to follow the request from the Lord Jesus Christ in Luke 22 when He said, “Do this in remembrance of me”. This is a time when those who have a personal relationship with Him through salvation spend time in worship and partaking in breaking bread and taking the cup.  The men lead this time and read short passages of Scripture, give their thoughts on what the Lord has done for us, pray, request songs that lead us to praise and worship. It’s a time set aside for thankfulness.

What is the Family Service?

For our service, we start with some congregational singing and announcements and then typically the children ages 3 through high school go to their Sunday School classes for a time of learning God’s Word with other children in their age group.  The adults then remain to receive teaching from the Bible from various speakers who come from all over Ontario and sometimes the US.  We don’t have one teaching pastor, so we experience a variety of teaching styles.
